Protecting the Monarch Butterfly—Right From Your Backyard 🦋

The Monarch butterfly, one of nature’s most iconic pollinators, is facing a serious decline due to habitat loss, climate changes, and reduced availability of native plants. While this may seem like a large-scale environmental issue, small efforts at home can make a meaningful impact—especially here in Southwest Florida.

One of the most effective ways homeowners can help is by incorporating butterfly-friendly plants into their landscapes. Monarchs rely on milkweed as a host plant to lay their eggs, making it essential for their survival. In addition, nectar-rich flowers such as lantana, pentas, and firebush provide the nourishment adult butterflies need to thrive.

Creating a butterfly garden doesn’t require a full landscape redesign. Even small, thoughtfully planted areas can provide a safe haven for these important pollinators. By choosing the right plants and minimizing pesticide use, homeowners can play a direct role in supporting the Monarch population.

At Earthcare, we’re passionate about creating landscapes that are not only beautiful, but also environmentally responsible. If you’re interested in adding a butterfly-friendly garden to your property, our team would be happy to help guide you!

Is It Time for an Irrigation Renovation?

An efficient irrigation system is one of the most important components of a healthy, thriving landscape—especially here in Southwest Florida, where heat and seasonal rainfall can quickly impact plant health. Over time, however, irrigation systems can become outdated, inefficient, or even ineffective without homeowners realizing it.

If you’ve noticed dry patches, overwatering, rising water bills, or inconsistent coverage, it may be time to consider an irrigation renovation. Aging systems often struggle to keep up with changing landscape needs, plant growth, and evolving water regulations.

Modern irrigation solutions are designed with efficiency and precision in mind. Upgrades can include improved sprinkler head placement, drip irrigation for plant beds, updated valves, and smart controllers that adjust watering schedules based on weather conditions. These enhancements not only promote healthier plants, but also help conserve water and reduce unnecessary costs.

An irrigation renovation is not just about fixing what’s broken—it’s about optimizing your entire system to work smarter and more effectively for your property.

At Earthcare, our team evaluates your current system and recommends tailored solutions to ensure your landscape receives the right amount of water, exactly where it’s needed. If you’re unsure whether your system is performing at its best, we’re here to help.

PREPARING FOR RAINY SEASON: Is a French Drain Right for Your Property?

As Southwest Florida’s rainy season approaches, now is the perfect time to think back to last year. Did you notice standing water in your lawn? Soggy areas that never seemed to dry out? Water pooling near your home or walkways? These are all common signs that your property may benefit from a drainage solution—such as a French drain system.

A French drain is designed to redirect excess water away from problem areas by collecting it below the surface and channeling it safely away. Installed beneath the ground, this system helps prevent water from accumulating in low spots, protecting both your landscape and your property.

Poor drainage can lead to more than just inconvenience. Over time, excess moisture can damage turf, weaken plant health, erode soil, and even impact hardscapes or your home’s foundation. Addressing these issues early can save both time and money in the long run.

The good news is that drainage solutions like French drains can often be installed with minimal disruption to your existing landscape, while delivering long-term results you can count on during heavy rains.

If your property experienced drainage issues last season, now is the ideal time to take action before the next round of storms arrives. Our team at Earthcare can evaluate your property and recommend the best solution to keep your landscape looking its best—rain or shine.

Let's correct your drainage issue before rainy season!

As Arbor Day approaches, we’re reminded of the incredible impact trees have on our environment, our communities, and our everyday lives. From providing shade and improving air quality to enhancing the beauty and value of our properties, trees play a vital role in the landscapes we enjoy here in Southwest Florida.

Arbor Day has its roots dating back to 1872, when it was first celebrated as a day dedicated to planting and caring for trees. What began as a simple idea has grown into a meaningful tradition—one that encourages all of us to appreciate, protect, and invest in the natural beauty around us.

At Earthcare Landscape Services, we see firsthand how healthy, well-maintained trees can transform a property while also contributing to a safer, more resilient environment. Proper care not only supports growth and longevity but also helps trees withstand the elements—especially as we approach hurricane season.

With that in mind, now is the ideal time to have your trees and palms professionally trimmed. Proactive pruning helps reduce the risk of damage from high winds, removes weak or hazardous limbs, and keeps your landscape looking its very best as we head into the summer months.

If you’ve been considering tree or palm trimming, our team is here to help ensure your property is both beautiful and prepared for the season ahead.

Thank you for allowing us to care for your landscape and be part of preserving the natural beauty that surrounds us all.

Wishing you a meaningful Arbor Day,

On this Earth Day, we pause to reflect on the incredible beauty that surrounds us here in Southwest Florida—the vibrant landscapes, the wildlife, and the natural spaces that make this place feel like home.

At Earthcare Landscape Services, caring for the earth isn’t just what we do—it’s who we are. Every lawn we nurture, every plant we install, and every property we maintain is a small part of something much bigger. It’s our way of helping preserve the environment for future generations to enjoy, just as we do today.

Earth Day is a gentle reminder that we all share in this responsibility. Whether it’s planting something new, conserving water, or simply taking a moment to appreciate nature, every action matters.

If you feel inspired to make an even greater impact, we invite you to support organizations in our local community that are working every day to protect and restore the environment we all cherish:

🌱Conservancy of Southwest Florida - Working to protect our region’s water, land, and wildlife through science, education, and advocacy.
🌱Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation - Dedicated to preserving coastal ecosystems and improving water quality across Southwest Florida.
🌱Keep Lee County Beautiful - Inspiring individuals and communities to take action through cleanups, recycling, and environmental education.

We are truly grateful for the trust you place in us to care for your outdoor spaces. Together, we are not just maintaining landscapes—we are contributing to the health, beauty, and future of our environment.

Wishing you a peaceful and meaningful Earth Day

IMPECCABLE INSTALLATION: Transformation at La Playa Beach & Golf Club

At La Playa Beach & Golf Club, every detail matters—especially in the spaces that welcome guests and residents each day. This recent enhancement focused on elevating both the appearance and functionality of key walkways and landscape areas, creating a cleaner, more polished coastal aesthetic.

In the “before” condition, these areas featured exposed soil and uneven groundcover, which not only impacted the overall presentation but also required ongoing maintenance. While the surrounding plant material remained beautiful, the lack of defined edges and consistent coverage left the space feeling incomplete.

The transformation introduces a crisp, intentional design with the addition of premium synthetic turf. This upgrade provides a lush, manicured appearance year-round while eliminating the challenges of maintaining natural grass in high-traffic, sandy coastal environments. The defined borders create a seamless transition between hardscape and landscape, enhancing both structure and visual appeal.

Beyond aesthetics, this improvement delivers long-term practical benefits. The turf helps reduce sand migration onto walkways, minimizes maintenance needs, and ensures a consistently clean and welcoming environment for guests.

This project is a perfect example of how thoughtful enhancements can make a significant impact—bringing together beauty, durability, and functionality in one cohesive design.

what our clients have to say…

Our Bright Feedback

TECHNICAL EXCELLENCE, CLIENT FOCUSED

I started working with Earthcare after my property was devastated by Hurricane Irma. I have enjoyed every moment. You have manicured my 2.5 acres weekly, sculpted my 400′ hedge, smoothed out the back yard with numerous installations of sod, maintained my irrigation system, and installed two beautiful water features that have given me tremendous pleasure…

A REALLY BIG THANK YOU
for helping with the garden dilemma. You responded so quickly to solve the problem, its amazing. I would be weeks waiting for the plans alone in the UK never mind the men to plant. It looks so much better already and when we get pots and the other 2 Bougies in I’m sure we will look, well if not perfect, certainly heading in the right direction.I will do what our Prince Charles does and talk to the Bougies to encourage them to reach the trellis. Your men were fantastic today working really quickly and they are so tidy!
